Overview

Limited headroom Driven Cased piles are installed by Piling Solutions in restricted sites, using very compact equipment. The bottom drive system minimises noise and vibration to enable installation of piles around the majority of existing structures with speed and minimum cost.

Product Description

Piling Solutions install Driven Cased piles from 100mm to 250mm diameter, to depths or set resistance for compressive loads up to 300kN, subject to ground conditions. Small, hydraulic rigs are available to work in headroom of less than 2.3 m and in restricted access offering just 0.75m width. The power pack can be left at least 15m remote from the rig if necessary, and on occasions where even this access cannot be given, 100mm piles can be installed using hand held equipment. The circular hollow sections (CHS) are driven in short lengths joined by welding or threaded ends. These can be left open to allow concrete or grout to be pumped in batches from delivery areas remote from the working area if necessary.

Applications

Offering a quick and minimal cost solution, the Driven Cased system is ideal for small groups of foundations or extension / refurbishment works on existing structures. The benefit of confirming ground resistance as the pile is driven to a set can be an advantage when ground investigation information is not extensive or where conditions are shown to be variable.

Railtrack and highway works are other areas that have benefited from the expertise available from Piling Solutions. We have developed working methods and equipment that allows us to carry out safety critical work adjacent to live rail operation, without the need for working possessions.

Soil conditions

Piling Solutions Driven Cased piles can be installed in ground conditions, which exclude rock or very dense soils above 3m deep. Underlying soils and ground water are supported and sealed by the casings and piles can be terminated in to granular, suitable clays, chalk and soft rocks or by end bearing on harder stronger rock formations. The presence of small obstructions can often be overcome or easily bridged using this system.
