Continuous Flight Auger (CFA) piles are produced by the cast in-situation bored method suitable for a wide range of applications and can be installed in the vast majority of ground conditions. Piling Solutions (in conjunction with our sister company Piling Equipment Specialists Ltd has extended the boundary of sites now able to take advantage of this versatile system by utilising compact, dedicated rigs ideal for small or restricted sites.
Product Description
Piling Solutions can install high capacity CFA piles from 300mm to 600mm diameter to depths from 4m to 19m catering for compressive loads of up to 2000kN, subject to ground conditions. The optimum pile arrangement will be designed by our experienced engineers to offer customers the most economical solution. Reinforcement can be tailored to carry horizontal or uplift loads and pile tested carried out to confirm load-settlement performance & integrity. A sophisticated instrumentation system can be used to monitor pile installation, assisting the operator to confirm integrity with this data stored as a record of quality. The relative speed and production from Piling Solutions powerful rigs can save time and cost compared to traditional alternatives.
Applications
Continuous Flight Auger (CFA) piles are installed without significant vibration or excessive noise being produced. The range of rigs that Piling Equipment Specialists operate are ideal for urban projects which are sensitive to environmental constraints or small sites with limited access or clearance. The design and construction of retaining structures can be offered on a cost effective basis to accommodate temporary or permanent works for valuable extension of the site below ground. Railtrack and Highway works can also benefit from the specialised equipment and expertise available from Piling Solutions with this system of piling.
Soil conditions
Most ground conditions can be penetrated by the CFA system. Unstable soils and ground water do not require support and piles can be terminated with penetrations in to clays, granular, chalk or soft rocks or with end bearing on harder material. Piling Solutions have developed equipment to assist in dealing with cobbles, which have also been effective on sites with obstructions.

The digging head of the auger is fitted with a expendable cap |
The auger is screwed into the ground to the required depth. |
Concrete is pumped through the hollow stem, blowing off the expendable cap under pressure. |
Maintaining positive concrete pressure the auger is withdrawn and the reinforcement is placed into the pile upto the required depth. |
