Overview
Piles are installed in a line to form a structure supporting soils and adjacent structures retained behind when excavation is required in front of the wall. These are often installed on the perimeter of the structure or where significant level changes are necessary and groundwater can also be controlled and drained as necessary. These structures can be designed to provide temporary works for a short duration and also incorporated into the permanent structure in the long term.
Product Description
A number of bored/drilled piling systems can be used to install the components necessary to form an effective structure. A contiguous or secant arrangement can be offered with grouting or anchors to improve performance or avoid internal propping. Piling Solutions will design and tailor an scheme which is specific to the project needs, taking into account the access, ground conditions, adjacent structures and the construction sequence. Retaining piles can also carry upper floors loads and separate foundation piles installed to pick up internal loads, before or after, excavation is carried out.

Applications
Most pile retaining walls are installed in urban centres where space is at a premium, these are installed as a cost effective solutions to increase land space in new developments. With redeveloped sites and extensions to existing structures, advantage can be taken of our compact rigs to add basements or create additional space were alternatives would not be feasible. Walls can also be installed to provide support on sloping sections despite difficult access and logistics. Infrastructure and upgrading works for rail and highways will often require retaining structures that require minimum land take or limited headroom, safety critical working to avoid costly processions.
