Piling Solutions Ltd, were employed as a sub contractor by Bess Limited to construct a bored pile retaining wall. The piled wall was constructed both to stabilise an existing landslip and allow development of new properties. A design was developed between Weeks Consulting and Piling Solutions that could be constructed using the limited access rig. Care was undertaken to ensure the works did not instigate further slippage of the hillside. This included the design and construction of the working platform and the sequencing of the piling.

The design utilised 141 number 600mm-diameter piles of lengths to 16m. Reinforcement being full depth and up to 9T40 bars per pile section. To utilise the restricted site to a maximum the reinforcement cages were fabricated off site and delivered on an as required basis.
